As you see we are students with  different personal qualities and interests but these diversities didn’t hurt us, on the contrary, it helped us to feel comfortable and enthusiastic during the working process .

  •             While thinking on the project topic we came across the question in the list:  ‘How people with disability problems are treated in your country?’   As we are the part of the world, we decided to describe how our Georgian People care about disabled people, what our attitude is toward them and how we can share our experience through diplomacy. There is the center of  mentally retarded people near our school and we see and meet them almost every day. Sometimes we visit the center and talk with them, so we know their problems and desires. Every member of our team participated in planning and designing the project, we shared  our ideas and experiences. Our teachers Inga and Gvantsa  helped us to set realistic goals and to complete the project in an organized way. While we were involved in searching the information they gave us  clear instructions. It was a great experience for us.

Our project is focused on mentally retarded people who live in our community. We think it perfectly supports the theme of international  diplomacy. With our project we wanted to inform people around us about mentally challenged people and show and explain them that they are as important members of the society as everyone else. We took the responsibility to be the embassadors/diplomats of our community and show to the rest of the world how people care about disabled people, what do we know about them, in what ways can we help them and what we actually do for them. These were the questions that led us to the decision to participate in the project and actually do something to make at least a small difference. It was our try to make ordinary members of our community put themselves in the mentally challenged people’s shoes, to make them understand that they are as important and valuable members of the society as everyone else and to  do something to help them.
